Smell the Roses
This series of close-up, realistic colour pencil drawings has been heavily inspired by my Mum. Often growing up, whilst on walks with my family, we would realise that my Mum had fallen quite far behind. Without a doubt, she was always admiring nature, seeing if any of the roses smelt, or just taking note of all the flowers she loved. It always made me smile, fill me with this unexplainable warmth. Little me found it comical at the time, just one of the many peculiarities I loved about my Mum… However now, with the fast pace of the world we’re in, it stands as an unintentional reminder to slow down, take note of all the little things around me. In short, to take a second to just smell the roses. This series is an appreciation of the beauty that inhabits this world, and a reminder to just slow down.
